On Thursday the 31st of May, Mary Canning will balance her till one final time at Kernans Ramelton and head for a well deserved meal to celebrate the beginning of her retirement.
Mary, affectionately known as the heart of Ramelton by all who know her, has served the community for over 50 years in her roll as cashier.
Involved in the retail business since the age of 16, Mary began by helping her aunt out in Mc Faddens store in Ramelton over 50 years ago where she was based for 20 years before joining Whoriskeys also based in Ramelton.
In 1996, Mary began to work on the Moorefield site owned by Rorger Mc Mahon at that time and now owned by the Kernan Group since 2006, adding up to a total of 22 years service at the Moorefield store.
Mary has big plans for the next chapter in her life with Highland Radio trips, long walks and holidays to England & Wexford all pre planned with her long term partner Patsy.
The Kernans team in Ramelton and across the Group are preparing to say farewell to this amazing woman who has set the standard for customer service and brought a smile to everyone she has ever served.
Call in over over the coming week to help us wish Mary Canning (the heart of Ramelton) a very happy retirement.
